I was kind of surprised that he never cracked a smile. I guess it was too important, there was too much to do. He wanted me to close the door, he wanted to “drive that one.” he wanted to go in the bounce house and stay there forever.
There was a fundraiser Saturday for High Desert Montessori School in Sparks, Nevada called Kids on Big Rigs. It was just about the most awesome fundraiser there ever could be. Starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday, the back lot at High Desert School in Sparks was filled with trucks, fire trucks, garbage trucks, busses, vans, a dune buggy, a space ship, ambulances and police cars. Kids could honk the horns, push the buttons, honk the horns, shout in the loud speakers, honk the horns, spray hoses, make a news cast, ride the electric gurney, honk the horns, and honk the horns again. There was also a fair amount of horn honking.
It was cool for kids of all ages for obvious reasons. I enjoyed it too. Who doesn’t like sitting behind the wheel of a big truck and pretending to drive it? My son was amazed. He loved pretending to drive. He always wants to close the door and sit there by himself messing with the levels on the radio and trying to turn on the four wheel drive.
If you need a fundraiser THIS IS A GREAT IDEA! High Desert charged $3 per person, but it was worth twice that at least. The bounce house was icing on the cake. So were the cup cakes.
