- Some of these images show multiple lightning strikes. This is because they were taken when it was dark out and the camera needed to expose for several seconds to capture detail. If the camera was open and taking in light for 10 or more seconds and the lightning was striking every 2 or 3 seconds, they will all show up in the photograph. More on Long Exposure Photography
