I watch a lot of videos on Vimeo. One thing that is really popular and that I love are videos that seem to shorten a long period of time, a day, a night, the changing of the seasons, into a short few minutes of amazing video.
Time Lapse Videos
These are videos in which a photographer sets his or her camera in interval mode and records an image every few seconds for an extended length of time. This can accelerate slow moving objects like clouds so they look like they are moving really fast. It can also highlight the movement of the stars as they travel across the sky at night in a way that regular video never could.
Here are some great time lapse videos I’ve seen on Vimeo and YouTube this week.
Timestorm from Martin Heck on Vimeo.
Indonesia Time Lapses – A Life with the Volcanoes from Anna Possberg on Vimeo.
NightFall from Colin Rich on Vimeo.
And,of course, if you haven’t seen it (and you probably haven’t) the my time lapse video from Yosemite CA using my GoPro Hero2 helmet camera.
Camping in Yosemite National Park from Gizzard Stone on Vimeo.
